old finn/kurt drabbles
I found these written on loose paper in an old purse and I wanted to type them up and put them somewhere so I could throw the papers away. They're really tiny papers. These are from like five years ago. I think the only one of these that is really "finished" is the second one about rain. And maybe the one with Beth.

Kurt has been practicing his telepathy. It probably doesn't fall under completely moral... He's been trying to transmit images of himself to Finn, in hopes that Finn will slowly realize he's thinking more and more about Kurt. The problem is, it's very hard to tell whether or not he's getting through.
That is, until he randomly starts receiving messages and images from *Finn*.
And it honestly *is* random. While Kurt's waiting in line at the local Whole Foods store, suddenly the white-haired lady in front of him has been replaced by a football game. It's only a split second, but it's enough to seriously throw him off.
When he gets home, there's Finn and Noah lounging in the living room, the end of a football game happening on the TV screen. The uniforms are the same.
Kurt tries to write it off. He cooks dinner. Abby comes home and helps him and they chat about the new sales girl at a local department store, among other things. It happens again.

There's always been something about the rain. It's beautiful in a subtle way. You have to be paying attention.
Kinda like with Kurt. Like, you can tell without staring or anything that he has *really* soft skin, and his eyes are kind of really stunning even from far away.
But the thing is, when you actually, like, *look*, there's a whole lot of other things, too. That's how he's like rain, because if you pay attention to rain you get like, all these awesome details you didn't notice at first. Like the colors and stuff. And the smell you get right before it rains. And how all the little drops gather and cling to every surface.
And with Kurt it's like.... Well, there are his lips for one thing. They look even softer than his skin. And even, like, his nose. It's got this really unique shape but it's actually kind of cute.
And yeah his eyes are obviously pretty, but when you take the time to really look at them, it's more than just that. Like, one minute they're green and the next they'll be maybe blue or sometimes gray.
Finn's been having these kind of thoughts a lot lately. And maybe he should be kind of concerned about them because, well, he's straight, right? He likes girls.
But he can't seem to get himself to be all that worried about it. Maybe because his mom is still dating Kurt's dad, so he and Kurt spend a lot of time together now. And if they're spending a lot of time together then it's like natural that he'd just start noticing him more, right? And it's just like how he thinks the rain is beautiful. That doesn't really mean anything. So it's really no big deal if he occasionally thinks that Kurt is beautiful, right?
And he knows that Kurt, like, still has this thing for him. He's not stupid. But now it's just not all that awkward anymore. Okay well, yeah, it still gets awkward, but it doesn't really *bother* him anymore. Actually, sometimes it's... kind of nice.
Like if he's had a really shitty day, he can talk to Kurt and Kurt just *listens* and helps and doesn't, like, make it all about *him* or want to go on about how he feels about it or any of that crap.
And then there's like... He even has been helping him lately with his schoolwork, 'cause he says he doesn't want Finn to have to be stuck in Lima for the rest of his life and, man, Finn doesn't want that either. And it's kind of funny because Finn never in his life thought that studying could be fun. But Kurt is always patient with him and he's funny and smart and they just always end up laughing.

"Kurt, come on, my hair looks fine. And your dad doesn't care what I look like," Finn protests as Kurt attempts to come at him with a comb again.
The two young men are sitting in the driveway of Kurt's old house.
"You said you wanted to do this properly, Finn. Besides, your mother was also invited."
"What? Why? Well, she doesn't really care so much what I look like, either..."
"To be honest, I'm not sure why. I know our parents are still very good friends and talk a lot, but dad sprang the news on me rather suddenly... Maybe it's nothing. Maybe she just misses you. When was the last time you talked to her?" Kurt asks as they get out of the car, background noise of insects entering into their conversation. The sun is just going down, painting the sky in pretty warm colors.
"Uhm. Sometime last week? I think? Yeah. Or wait, maybe the week before that..."
[ I think that was going to be an engagement announcement type thing but I never finished it! ]

"It's going to rain," Finn says, face tilted up toward the cloudless sky, feet pushing on the floorboards to keep the porch swing in motion.
Kurt shakes his head, nestled up against the taller man's side. "No. Not a chance. It wasn't even in the forecast," he points out.
Finn turns a grin on him. "Still. It's going to rain. I know it."
Kurt just laughs. "You're ridiculous. There is not one single cloud in the sky. Not even a fluffy white one."
Finn leans back and pulls his husband closer with a sly smile on his lips, like there's a joke hidden somewhere in all this nonsense. "I'm telling you, though. It's going to rain."
"How, Finn? How could you *possibly* know that?"
This is, apparently, the question the taller man was waiting for, as his grin widens. He leans over to kiss at Kurt's ear before whispering into it, smartly, "It's always raining *somewhere*."

"I don't like the dentist," five-year-old Beth Fabray sniffles.
"It's only for a cleaning, princess. It won't hurt, I promise," Kurt reassures her. "There's nothing to be scared of."
"Daddy says he's afraid of the dentist," she argues.
Kurt turns to look at his husband. Finn has the decency to look sheepish.
The smaller man gives a frustrated sigh before returning to his adopted daughter. "That's because Daddy has always had a nasty habit of drinking far too much sugary soda. So he gets cavities, which can make dentist visits hurt. But you're a good girl, you won't follow in your Daddy's footsteps when it comes to cavities, will you?"
"No, Momma."
"We know to stay away from sugary drinks, don't we?"
"Yes, Momma."
"Why?"
Beth gives a little sigh of her own before stating, in that tone kids use for things their parents tell them constantly but they never intend to do. "Because empty calories are evil and can clog my pores."
"That's my princess," Kurt coos, as Finn tries to hide a snicker behind his hand.
"...if I promise to eat REALLY good and brush my teeth a WHOLE WHOLE lot, can we please not go to the dentist?" Beth pleads, with her mother's big brown eyes. Finn is a sucker for these eyes. He looks to Kurt like he's just been stabbed in the heart.
"No. You have to go to the dentist, sweetie. But it's really not a big deal, I promise you. Your daddy is just a very, very big baby."
Finn frowns. "Hey."
"He can tackle very big football players but needs Momma to hold his hand while he's in the dentist's chair."
Finn doesn't deny it.
"Could you hold my hand, too?" Beth asks, in a very small voice, and Finn looks to Kurt again because their adopted daughter is continuing to melt his heart.
Kurt smiles, and takes one of Beth's hands in his own, nodding to his husband so that Finn picks up the other, giving it a reassuring squeeze. "Tell you what, you can have both our hands."
